![]() Does no one want to take a really solid fighting game engine (KOF 98 maybe?) and offer their own spin on it? (Of course, maybe these do exist and I just haven't heard of them. Which is a shame, since MUGEN games have always felt like garbage. It's a bit weird that there aren't more KOF ROM hacks out there, but perhaps people see MUGEN as sufficient. My question is: Are there any KOF ROM hacks that do anything more interesting to the game? Anything like Street Fighter 2 Rainbow Edition, which gave every character a bunch of broken moves and allowed mid-match character switching? I mean technically this is also just a bootleg version of SF2, but it's weird enough that people still play it for the lulz. The King of Dragons is a side scrolling hack and slash arcade game. The only one I've seen in an arcade is "King of Fighters 2004 Special Edition," which is just KOF 2002 with different backgrounds. An interesting ROM hack of FireRed is Pokemon Radical Red. I know there are lots of KOF ROM hacks out there, but traditionally they've just been simple bootlegs.
